Suffolk County is the newest and largest municipality to join Energize NY, being the fourth largest county in New York State with a population of 1.5 million.
Energize NY (PACE) financing is now available to commercial, industrial, multi-family and non-profit building owners in Suffolk County for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects as a result of the County becoming a member of Energize NY. Suffolk County-based contractors in the energy efficiency and solar sectors, who are eager to use Energize NY (PACE) Finance to fund projects as they expand their businesses and develop new clean energy projects.
In a Newsday article, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone is quoted "the energy reductions and cost savings could help businesses “stay on Long Island and potentially expand and create more skilled jobs both directly in the energy efficiency and solar sectors, and indirectly in all other sectors of our economy.” and Mike Bailis, co-founder of SUNation Solar Systems in Ronkonkoma, said his company has been marketing the program since the county passed legislation. “I expect the commercial business because of PACE to increase anywhere from 25 to 50 percent,” he said. “It makes commercial installation extremely cost effective. It’s absolutely painless. It’s getting all your savings up front instead of waiting for it.”
